Thanks to the generosity of a number of private donors, the new Greendale Swimming Pool will be supplied with numerous sun umbrellas for the use of patrons.

Greendale Clerk Treasurer Mary Jo Lynch told Board of Works members at their April 23 meeting that to date almost $18,000 has been donated for the project.

The umbrellas were originally eliminated from plans for the pool when the first round of bids came in much higher than expected.

City Manager Steve Lampert reported that work is already being done on the interior of the pool building, and the concrete deck around the pool is scheduled to be poured on the first dry day.

O’Mara Construction was the apparent low bidder out of three received for reconditioning of the existing portion of Minger Drive with a bid of $27,900.53.

Televac Company, at $35,204.50 had the apparent low bid for inspecting and cleaning a portion of Greendale’s sewers. A portion of the city’s sewer system is inspected and cleaned each year to prevent major problems in the future, said Lampert

Board members voted to award both projects to the low bidders subject to Lampert’s decision that they are also responsive and responsible bidders.

In the future, the second regular board of works meeting each month will be held on the fourth Monday evening at 5 p.m., prior to the plan commission and board of zoning appeals.

The May meeting will be an exception because the fourth Monday is also Memorial Day, so it has been scheduled for May 20, the third Monday.
