Lawrenceburg and Greendale firefighters responding to an apartment fire at 325 Short St. found smoke coming from the building's main entry at 12:23 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29.

The crew of Lawrenceburg's Engine 4 stretched an attack line to Apt. 4. Firefighters found a cooking fire in the kitchen, and contained it there.

Other residents in the apartment building were displaced for about two hours, said Lawrenceburg Fire Chief Johnnie Tremain, adding the residents in the apartment where the fire started are out of a home temporarily.

Damage is estimated at $10,000 said Tremain.

Others assisting at the scene included Lawrenceburg Emergency Rescue Unit, Lawrenceburg police and Lawrenceburg utilities.
