A fire on Broadway Street in Aurora Sunday, Dec. 29, has displaced a family of three.
Aurora and Lawrenceburg fire departments were called to 419 Broadway St., near Flavors ice cream, at 11:18 a.m. Sunday for a structure fire. Firefighters found smoke coming from the windows and eaves of the house, said Aurora Fire Chief Jeff Lane.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the Indiana State Fire Marshal's office has been called to assist in the investigation, said Lane.
The fire, which caused about $60,000 in damages, was extinguished in about 20 minutes. Also assisting at the scene were Hogan Township, Greendale and Dillsboro fire departments, the Aurora Fire Rehab unit, Aurora life squad and police, along with Aurora Utilities and Duke Energy.
The Red Cross is assisting the family, added Lane.
