When hall-of-fame professional baseball player Anna “Shorty” Meyer visited her hometown Sunday, April 26, she told a crowd of more than 300 she was tired of introductions that cited her birthplace as Aurora, Ill., and she would put Aurora, Ind., “on the map” by correcting the record whenever she appeared for public functions.

East Central freshman Abby Bittner (right) ran a personal best time of 5:43.46 to finish third in girls 1,600-meter run, while teammate Alexis Floyd, running on Bittner's shoulder, place sixth in Thursday's EC Invitational track meet.

LAWRENCEBURG - Lawrenceburg Speedway 2013 track champion CJ Leary was back to show his dominance Saturday night.

The Greenfield, Ind., driver of the No. 30 sprint car took the lead early from polesitter Garrett Abrams and never looked back.

We owe our veterans and troops a big thank you for all their service, sacrifice and strength.

We will salute them in a special section to be published Wednesday, May 20, in The Harrison Press and Thursday, May 22, in The Dearborn County Register and The Rising Sun Recorder.
