Hidden Valley Lake Neighbors Homemakers Hidden Valley Homemakers met on Nov. 10th at the Community Building.
After saying the Pledge to the Flag and the Homemakers Creed, the meeting was called to order by Jeanne.
Roll Call was taken, all answering the month’s question;” Your handiest kitchen gadget”, brought many different answers. The Secretary made a correction to September’s minutes: Joan Schrad offered to take the place of Elmira as Vice President, instead of Judy.
The treasurers report was given.
The Holiday Program was discussed. All members have paid for this.
Jeanne reminded us that Dearborn County is hosting the Spring District Meeting, on March 20th, at the Pavilion in Aurora Park. The Rolling Pin is catering the lunch, but we (Dearborn County Clubs) will need to provide the breakfast items. Need donation of baked goods, fruit etc.; and will need helpers to prepare and serve. Ollie will chair this. Contact him if you can help.
Our Christmas luncheon will be on Dec. 1st at noon, at the Jade Cafe. Bring canned goods for the food pantry. The cost will be $11, pay at the lunch.
Our January meeting will be our annual “soup lunch” Joan, Pat and Jeanne will be the soup makers. We will meet at noon on Jan 5th for lunch and meeting.
Warm the Children campaign has started and Betty made a motion, Ollie seconded, that we make our usual donation to this group. The motion was passed. Lois made a motion and Pat seconded that we also make a donation to Shop With a Cop. Motion passed.
Jeanne said the Oak Hills Club has offered to host the Holiday Program for next year.
Peg will be doing an “apple pie bake” with children on Nov. 23rd., and she could use help with the apple peeling. Get in touch with Peg for details.
Jeanne passed out lessons for coming months Sally gave a lesson on the new “Dietary Guidelines”, and also and article about the “the three veggies with the least nutritional value”
The Dearborn County Hospital has invited us to become members. Eight paid the dues to become members of the DCH Auxiliary. Sally will turn this in.
