Greendale Mayor Doug Hedrick has asked city officials to consider buying up abandoned and foreclosed properties for resale or demolition to alleviate a growing problem with deteriorated housing.

Hedrick suggested the city could rehab those that could be restored and demolish others, selling the available lots that resulted.

He stated that riverboat funds, possibly $200,000 could be used to purchase the properties, some of which could probably be acquired at extremely low prices.
