After being set back drastically last year due to an unusually rainy spring and fall, the Lawrenceburg Dog Park is finally set to open.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the dog park, located in Todd-Creech Park by the Little League baseball fields and the Lawrenceburg

Community Center off Walnut Street, will be at 4 p.m. Monday, April 30.

The park is designed for city dogs to have the opportunity to go off-leash with activities and watering spots, including seperate areas for large and small dogs, the park also has benches for humans.

The ribbon cutting was announced before city meetings took a contentious turn Monday evening, April 16.

Money for ...
Harbingers of a disagreement occurred when Lawrenceburg teacher Kim Niewedde asked council for money to fund two inflatable obstacle courses for Lawrenceburg Primary School’s fun and fitness. Renting the inflatables would cost about $350 to $500, said Niewedde.

Lawrenceburg Clerk-Treasurer Jackie Stutz told council how much was in city funds for such donations, however councilman Mike Lawrence motioned to table the request and asked Niewedde when she would need the money.

Niewedde would need to know the funding is available by Tuesday, May 1, so she could make the reservation.

Lawrence said the request should be tabled until later and everybody would find out why “in a few minutes. I think we have a problem with the budgets and I’m not comfortable with this at this time.”

Interesting Lawrenceburg can give 50 million for a convention center, but not $500 for Fun and Fitness day at the Primary school.
