WIND-ASSISTED WIPEOUT - NO. 3 G'BURG AIDED BY GUSTS AT SD

AURORA – South Dearborn baseball got two quick outs on a double-play ball in the top of the first inning Monday against unbeaten league leader Greensburg.

But the chilly wind atop Wilmington Hill was gusting in the 20-30 mph range, despite bright sunshine. Third batter in the inning, Macy Holdsworth, lifted what appeared to be a routine fly ball to right field.

Caught in the teeth of a perfectly-time gust, the ball carried – and carried – deep to the corner. It dropped for a double.

Before anyone blinked twice, Greensburg (11-0, 4-0 Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference) had scored five runs for a lead it never lost.
