On Friday, April 27, Judge James Humphrey sentenced the casino robbers, Ugbe Ojile and Kenyatta Erkins to 50 years each to the Indiana Department of Corrections. The sentences were to run consecutive to their sentences in the state of Ohio. Prosecutor Aaron Negangard and deputy prosecutor Daniel Carraway presented the evidence that showed that Ojile and Erkins planned to rob a patron of the Grand Victoria Casino once he left the casino. However, they were not able to complete the crime due to the fact that the patron checked into the hotel. Both Ojile and Erkins have been convicted in the State of Ohio for robbing a number of patrons of both Hollywood and Grand Victoria Casinos. Their crime spree was brought to an end due to the investigative efforts of the Cincinnati Police Department, the Hamilton County Sheriffs Department and the Indiana State Police. “The Cincinnati Police Department along with the Hamilton County Sheriffs Department and the Indiana State Police conducted an excellent investigation that allowed our office to bring these two extremely violent criminals to justice. Judge Humphrey’s sentence was just and serves to protect the public from these two violent criminals,” stated Negangard. To read the rest of this article please subscribe or sign in |
