Seven Sunman-Dearborn Middle School students' Family, Career and Community Leaders of America projects qualified for national competition, said FCCLA adviser Brenda Osman.

The students will compete in July in Florida, she told the S-D Community School Board at its April meeting.

Then she let some of the students tell the board about their projects.
Ashlay Newhouse said she investigated teaching as a career.

β€œI have always been fascinated by the teaching profession,” she said. So she explored what she would have to do to become a teacher, resulting in a six-year education plan for herself. In addition to interviewing several teachers, she researched colleges, requirements and salaries and took several self assessments.
One thing she learned: β€œAt the end of the (school) day, you're not done. You must make plans for the next day.”
