BATESVILLE – Thursday's Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference track and field championships saw perhaps the most exciting finish in 55 years of league history.

Tied 142-all heading into the final 1,600-meter relay, host Batesville edged East Central at the wire to capture its first conference crown since 1981, by just two points, 152-150.
