DES MOINES, Iowa – University of Cincinnati senior Kathy Klump capped her college career with a third All-American honor at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships last Friday.
Aurora native Klump, 22, finished sixth in her 800-meter run specialty with a time of 2:03.56 in Friday's finals at Drake University Stadium.
Her finish Friday ranks Klump 24th among the top 32 candidates eligible to compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials June 21-25 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
But a hectic summer schedule has forced the 2008 South Dearborn High School product's decision to bypass the Trials in favor of graduating from UC in August with her degree in clinical laboratory science.
