Friday morning, June 22, at approximately 11 a.m. Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Jimmy Wells stopped a 2012 Chevrolet Caprice on Interstate 74 eastbound near the 161 mile marker for a traffic violation.

During his conversation with the driver, 21-year-old Destanee E. Gaines, Cincinnati, he became suspicious of possible criminal activity.

As the investigation continued he developed probable cause to search Gaines and her vehicle. During the search, he noticed some unusual discrepancies in the driver’s side door panel of the vehicle.

The door panel was removed and S Wells located three kilograms of heroin with an estimated value of approximately $450,000. One kilogram equals approximately 2.2 pounds for a total of 6.6 pounds recovered.

As the investigation continued Wells learned Gaines was supposed to deliver the heroin to 30-year-old Aldon Webb Jr., Cincinnati. When Webb learned Gaines was arrested he was informed the vehicle had been towed to a local towing company and was unaware the heroin had been discovered.

Wells and Lawrenceburg Police maintained surveillance of the vehicle at the local tow yard and at approximately 10:30 p.m. Webb arrived at the tow yard and attempted to remove the driver’s door panel to recover the heroin. At this time he was placed under arrest.

There was also a female passenger, later identified as 24-year-old Brittany D. Russell of Trotwood, Ohio, who accompanied Webb to the tow yard but remained in his vehicle. She was later discovered to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and also arrested. Webb and Russell were also transported to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center, Lawrenceburg.

Webb Jr. was charged with Dealing in a Narcotic Drug (over 3 grams) and Conspiracy to Deal in Narcotic Drug (over 3 grams)-both Class A Felonies
