Dearborn County Commissioners have issued a proclamation banning open burning in the county due to the prolonged period without rain combined with high temperatures.

The countywide ban comes after Lawrenceburg, Aurora, Greendale, Dillsboro and Bright also banned burning within their fire jurisdictions.

The ban does not prohibit gas or charcoal grills or fireworks.

Dearborn County Emergency Management Director Bill Black said last week people should exercise caution, courtesy and common sense when using fireworks or grills.
