YORKVILLE
– Dearborn County's longest-running road road continues to set the
pace Sunday, July 29. St.
Martin's 5K (3.1 mile) Country Run hits York Ridge Road for the 32nd
consecutive years, starting at 9:30 a.m. A
feature of the annual St. Martin's Church Picnic, the event follows
paved road from St. Martin's Church, out and back, with some small
hills. Split times will be given at each mile. Entry
fee if $7 for all runners who register prior to race day. Race day
registration will be $9. Official race t-shirts can be purchased for
an additional $9. Entry forms are available on-line at
runningspot.com. Awards
will be presented to men's and women's overall winners, plus the top
three finishers in each age group for men and women. Age groups
include: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and
over. St.
Martin's unique Most Improved Runner award also will be given to a
pre-registered runner who competed in the 2011 race. Masters Awards,
for the oldest runner, also will be presented. Major
award winners from the 2011 St. Martin's Country Run were Alan Apsley
(19:06) and Sarah Voltz (21:15), with Linden Ogden winning the
Masters Award and Nicky Martini the Most Improved Runner (by 5:28). Modern
restroom facilities are available in the parish hall before and after
the race. Water will be available at the start/finish line and at
stations during the race. Results
will be posted on runningspot.com, with awards presented following
the race. For
