For the first time, 2012 will mark the collaboration of the Indiana Governor’s Conference on Service and Volunteerism and the Indiana Nonprofit Capacity Building Conference, which are joining forces to create a better experience for nonprofits and faith-based organizations in Indiana.

The 2012 Governor’s Conference on Service and Nonprofit Capacity Building will bring together leaders in the nonprofit sector, volunteer coordinators and innovative thinkers to explore best practices, receive meaningful training, establish fruitful partnerships, and celebrate success stories.

Registration for the 2012 Governor’s Conference is now open online. This inaugural conference, to be held Oct. 2, at the Marten House in Indianapolis, is presented by the Indiana Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and the SAVI Community Information System.

Goals for the conference include building capacity of nonprofit, faith-based, and community-based organizations in Indiana to:

*Be more effective at planning, decision making, program management, fundraising, and governance
*Utilize a volunteer force
*Use local, community data and information to improve decision-making

The conference also will try provide a forum for engaging in meaningful dialogue, exchanging best practices, networking and forming partnerships and celebrating accomplishments.
