1930 – Jim Dandy, a 100-1 shot, beats 1930 Triple Crown winner Gallant Fox on a muddy course to win the Travers Stakes at the Saratoga Racetrack in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Gallant Fox goes off as a 1-2 favorite and battles Whichone for the lead for most of the race. Then Jim Dandy stuns the crowd by running along the rail, passing both horses.
