Folks driving through Aurora may need to detour around CSX railroad crossings in the near future, said Aurora Mayor Donnie Hastings.

The crossing at George Street by the U.S. 50 intersection will be closed over a weekend in the next four or five weeks for crossing replacement, he told Aurora Utility Board Monday, Aug. 13. The utility board consists of Aurora City Council members.

The crossing will close at 6 a.m. on a Saturday and reopen at 6 p.m. the next day, a Sunday, unless workers encounter problems, he said. In that case, it may not reopen until 6 a.m. that Monday.

Meanwhile, the crossing on Exporting Street near the old Aylor and Meyer building, between Third and Second streets, also will be replaced, said Hastings.
