UPDATE: Steven D. Clark, 47, has been charged with robbery, a Class C felony, in connection with the robbery of Merchants Bank Friday, Aug. 17, said Aurora Police Sgt. Joshua Daugherty.

Several citizens contacted police and identified Clark, 106 Franklin St., Aurora, from the surveillance photos released to the media after the 11:20 a.m. robbery at the bank in Rivercreek Village Shopping Center, 950 Green Blvd., Aurora, said Daugherty in a news release.

Clark was staying in a homeless shelter in Cincinnati, and took a taxi to the Merchant’s Bank, said Daugherty. Clark then took the same taxi back to Cincinnati after the robbery.

More recently, Clark was en route to Reno, Nev., by bus when it stopped in Louisville, said Daugherty. There, Clark was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine. He currently is being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Correction on unrelated charges, said Daugherty.

Based on the Aurora Police Department investigation, the felony charges were filed on Clark Wednesday, Aug. 22, in Dearborn Circuit Court, said Daugherty.

APD was assisted by the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit, Covington Kentucky Police Department and Louisville Kentucky Metro Police Department.

“The Aurora Police Department and the other law enforcement officers conducted an excellent investigation that solved this violent crime thoroughly and quickly,” said Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard.

“The citizens of Aurora should be very proud of their work,” he added.
