Green’s out, red’s in on the West Harrison side of State Street!

Have you noticed the Hoosier town’s classy new street signs and welcome banners? Town council recently shelled out more than $21,000 from casino gambling coffers to replace street name signs and some safety signs in the incorporated Indiana town of less than a square mile.

Green background street signs with white lettering were shucked for red backgrounds with white lettering in association with the Sunman-Dearborn School Corporation, said town council member Christina Swafford, who headed the project and selected the color scheme.

“We wanted to support the school colors, and they just really pop out, I think,” said Swafford.

The switch comes in time for the titanic Interstate 74 football clash this Friday, Aug. 24, between the Harrison Wildcats, sporting green, and the East Central Trojans, St. Leon, displaying red.
