LAWRENCEBURG – Newly-ranked No. 1 in the state Class A poll, Lawrenceburg girls soccer clinched its second consecutive Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference title with a 9-0 victory over Franklin County Tuesday.

Now 12-1 overall, coach Bill Offutt’s Lady Tigers upped their perfect league mark to 8-0. Their three top EIAC contenders – East Central, South Dearborn and Batesville – all had three conference losses prior to Tuesday.

“It's nice to be ahead of the game a little bit more this year,” said Offutt, whose 2011 league champions went down to their final game to clinch, 1-0 over South Dearborn.
