Fall Fest means handing over parking lot work to contractor

Instead of the city doing the preliminary work on a new parking lot at Ludlow Hill Park, all of the work will be done by O’Mara Contractors.

Lawrenceburg Zoning Enforcement Officer Mike Clark had initially expected the city to be able to do the preliminary site prep work, however, because they are busy with Fall Fest preparations, there isn’t time to do the work, he said.

The city got quotes, and O’Mara had the lowest for $44,900. Lawrenceburg Board of Works members approved the quote at the Monday, Sept. 17, meeting.

The city will supply the stone and take it to the site, and O’Mara will do the work, said Clark.

Crews were staking the site Wednesday morning, Sept. 19, and digging should begin Thursday. “It could be paved as early as the end of next week,” he said.

The parking lot is needed to alleviate congestion and eliminate people parking in the grass and along the park’s roads.

The PeeWee football and other ball fields/activities attract a lot of people, especially on weekends, said Clark at a previous city meeting.
