AURORA - South Dearborn cheerleading competition squad made history Saturday.

Knights cheerleaders, competing in the Indiana Association of School Principals state preliminary competition at Pendleton Heights High School, earned their first-ever state finals berth.

Coached by Heather Cook and Lisa Slack, SD's cheerleaders were one of 15 teams competing in the 3A varsity division.

South Dearborn placed in the top nine to advance to this coming weekend's IASP Cheerleading State Finals, which takes place at Southport High School in Indianapolis.
