GOP takes county, Orschell out

It was a Republican sweep in Dearborn County, in part fueled by 5,333 straight Republican Party tickets cast out of a total of 22,270 ballots, or 24 percent of all ballots cast in the county. Democratic straight party tickets were at 10 percent or 2,286

The Tuesday, Nov. 6, election results also were slow coming in for Dearborn County, and adding to the frustrations of the night for candidates awaiting results was the failure of a machine at Greendale Precinct 1.
County Clerk employees also had their hands full hand counting the ballots. Clerk Phil Weaver said the machine had tested and worked fine, but Tuesday morning it wouldn’t work.
