Lawrenceburg Police K-9 Officer Jacob Jump and canine Newby helped Indiana State Police discover about 50 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 74 in Dearborn County. ISP Senior Trooper Jimmy Wells pulled over a 2010 Chevrolet Impala for speeding at about 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8. “During the course of the traffic stop S/Tpr. Wells became suspicious of possible criminal activity and requested a K-9 unit,” said ISP Sgt. Noel Houze Jr., Versailles district public information officer. Newby alerted on the car, and the search yielded the marijuana, said Houze. The diver, Ashley L. Love, 32, of Indianapolis, was arrested, and is facing a charge of dealing in marijuana-over 10 pounds, a class C felony. Well said the marijuana is valued at about $50,000, and was being transported from Indianapolis to Cincinnati. Love is currently in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center, Lawrenceburg.
