LAWRENCEBURG – It may not end up as the season in which Lawrenceburg girls basketball halts its infamous 29-year streak of losing ledgers.

But Coach Bill Snyder’s Lady Tigers took a very positive step in that direction in Saturday’s 42-33 homecourt victory over longtime EIAC power Franklin County.

With its first win against two losses to open the 2012-13 season, LHS varsity evened its early Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference mark at 1-1.

More importantly, the Lady Tigers stopped a consecutive league loss streak to the Wildcats (1-3, 0-2 EIAC) at 24 games, dating back to FC’s pre-domination days of 1999-2000.

“All I know is that it had been a long time since we won a conference game,” said second-year mentor Snyder. “I'm not sure how many years that goes back, but it's a good win for us.”
