ST. LEON – Their 3-1 start to the high school girls basketball season isn't perfect, but it's been pretty darn pleasing for East Central.

Coach Kevin Moore's Lady Trojans, despite a tense 57-51 overtime loss at 4A sectional rival Columbus East (2-1) last Thursday, are proving to be as billed.

The team to beat in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference, if not the entire area, that is.

“I was worried we'd come out flat after the loss,” said fourth-year coach Moore, whose team wreaked defensive havoc on the 20th-ranked (Class 2A) South Ripley Raiders (3-1) in a 59-31 home win Saturday.
