Until a couple of months ago, Tammy Deck, Moores Hill, had never gotten a sewer bill for her home, 16329 Broadway St., where she moved in 2008.

“We've never paid it. We never even knew we had a sewage bill,” Deck told Moores Hill Town Council at its December meeting. She paid the new $54.40 per month bills, but then received a letter saying she owned $11,096.80 for 19 months of sewage bills, back into 2010.

“I'm very angry and upset I was notified like this,” she said. Why should she be responsible for something that was the town's fault, her not being billed for sewage since she moved in? Before getting the first sewage bill, she thought her house had a septic system, she added.
