A Lawrenceburg woman was extricated from a minivan and taken to Dearborn County Hospital after a two-car wreck on Ind. 1 at Georgetown Road in Greendale. Greendale Police Sgt. Kevin Turner said police, fire and EMS were dispatched to the intersection at about 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21. When officers arrived they found a heavily damaged Cadillac, driven by Shirley Shepard, 77, Guilford, on Ind. 1, and a Ford Windstar, driven by Iona Potzner, 84, Lawrenceburg, over the embankment and in the yard of 18921 Ind. 1, said Turner. Potzner was trapped in the minivan, and was extricated from it by fire personnel. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses told police Potzner was traveling east on Georgetown Road, and her minivan was struck by Shepard's car when Potzner pulled onto Ind. 1. Potzner has been cited for failure to yield at a through highway. Also assisting at the scene were GPD officers Scott Schnebelt, Pam Taylor and Scott Spinnati, along with Dearborn County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police and Lawrenceburg Fire Department.
