UPDATED: Garbage fees for Aurora residents will be a major topic at the next Aurora Utility Board meeting, said Aurora Mayor Donnie Hastings.

An ordinance regarding garbage pickup and fees charged to residents was read for the first time at Aurora's November council meeting. A second reading and consideration to accept or reject the ordinance will be at the December council meeting, said Aurora Attorney Jeff Stratman.

The proposed ordinance includes a proposed fee of $8 per month per residential or small business pickup, with apartments units of five or more residences allowed to opt out by contracting for other garbage services.
