BATESVILLE – Batesville girls basketball firmed up its identity as a top contender for the EIAC title with a sound 49-29 thumping of Lawrenceburg Tuesday night.

Visiting Lady Tigers, now 2-3 overall and 2-2 in Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference play, were outscored 13-2 in the pivotal second quarter, with the lone bucket by junior forward Abbi Sampson.

That put coach Bill Snyder's LHS girls varsity down 25-9 at halftime at the Dog Pound. Despite better production in the final two periods, Lady Tigers were unable to close the gap in the 20-point loss.

"We missed some easy shots early that maybe deflated us a little bit," said Snyder. "But we really lost track in the second quarter. Batesville gets a lot of mileage out of double-teaming the ball with their large guards and taking you out of your offensive patterns.
