AURORA – Turnover-prone and offensively hapless in a season-opening loss at Jennings County a week ago, East Central boys basketball looked like a whole new team Friday.
Equally offensively-strapped in their debut weekend sweep by Rising Sun and No. 1 Greensburg, South Dearborn’s Knights did not in a home-opening 62-32 loss to EC.
“We made 22 turnovers last week,” said EC head coach David Disbro, whose Trojans (1-2, 1-0 EIAC) carried the effort over to Saturday’s hard-fought 55-43 home loss to 18th-ranked Richmond.
“We worked hard on turnovers and we had a good week of practice,” Disbro added. “We kicked their butts pretty hard the last two Mondays and Tuesdays. By Wednesday and Thursday (of last week) you could tell we were getting better. If we continue to play the way we did this weekend, we’ll have a chance against anybody. This is just a real good group of kids that wants to work their tails off to get better.”
