GREENDALE –It's Dearborn County's only road racing event in which the participants compete with bells on their toes - almost literally, with the jingling items attached to their electronic timing chips.

A record field of 194 runners and walkers turned out for another warm Voices of Indiana Jingle Bell 5K road race Saturday morning.

Rising Sun native Jeff Rumsey, 33, now of Loveland, Ohio, was the wire-to-wire winner in the 3.1-mile running event, registering the top time of the day, 17:11, under windless 52-degree conditions. Rumsey, a former Shiner track and cross country standout, won that community's last two Navy Bean Festival 5K Run titles, in addition to Loveland's Capt. Seth Mitchell Hero 5K event in September.
