The Salvation Army will do a toy drive just for the Coalition all day Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Aurora Wal-Mart on Sycamore Estates Drive. All toys collected will go to the Coalition for Children's Christmas Toys, said Kerry Hallon, director of the Dearborn County Clearinghouse for Emergency Aid, which coordinates the program.

Folks who can spare a little time this month are needed, as is the generosity that's made the Coalition for Children's Christmas Toys a success over the years.

That's because the need for assistance is as great as if not greater than ever going into the Christmas season, said Kerry Hollan, director of the Dearborn County Clearinghouse for Emergency Aid.

The Clearinghouse coordinates the Coalition for Children's Christmas Toys program, through which children of needy families receive Christmas presents. Hollan knows through the Clearinghouse's food pantry how many people are struggling, with 2,200 lunches and groceries served in October alone.
