These are trying times economically, socially, and at times our faith in our fellow man is often questioned. But through these times we always open our hearts to those in need at holiday time.
Since the beginning of our great nation there have been food drives, soup lines, homeless shelters and mission kitchens. As Americans we strive to help others who struggle.
This year was a special year for the Arch Street Gang. We sponsored a benefit for a young local wounded warrior. We had a benefit party in the summer to help charities in the area. But our most recent venture was by far the most rewarding and satisfying. We have always celebrated the holidays together throughout the years, but this year we decided to celebrate by giving aid to our fellow food banks with a community food drive. The food drive was very successful.
We were able to hand our 172 turkeys and a small trailer filled with dry goods, canned goods, paper products and cleaning goods to help others who are struggling.
In order for any type of benefit or food drive or charitable event to be successful, you have to have voluntary group participation, but without support from our community leaders and their generosity, none of these would have worked.
We are fortunate to have community leaders, city workers and support from our local organizations within our group. Dearborn County and in particular Greendale and Lawrenceburg have some of the finest leaders in the Tri-State.
This letter is to personally thank the organizations and the local leaders who helped make our food drive a success. By donating to this worthy cause, by donating and helping others, we all prove that we are a great and generous nation.
Thank you: Lawrenceburg Fire Department, Lawrenceburg Eagles Aerie 2018, Sons of the American Legion, and United Community Bank, which supports so many community causes. Also Cheryl Haag and Haag Ford, Hardintown Towing, especially Junior Clark who has always supported us and our community activities.
We as Arch Streeters plan to increase our effort to help our communities’ needy people. We could not do anything without our great community leaders. Thank you for all your support, generosity, and participation in making this a very special holiday.
