| Dearborn County inmate faces felonies for alleged fraudulent tax returns |

A jail inmate could be spending more time behind bars since more charges have been filed against him. Robert J. Bonavita, 46, has been charged with forgery, concpiracy to commit forgery, fraud on a financial institution, and conspiracy to commit fraud on a financial institution, all class C felonies. According to a press release from the Dearborn County Prosecutor’s Office, Bonavita solicited and obtained Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center inmate’s personal information and used a non-existent company in order to file fraudulent tax returns. The inmates would receive tax refund checks and Bonavita would receive a portion of their refund as payment. Bonavita was in the jail on charges of forgery, theft and check deception, notes the press release. |
