A new swimming pool for the city of Greendale became a sure thing when a second round of construction bids turned out to be well under the $2.2 million budget cap required by city officials.

Seven bids were opened at a meeting of the park board Tuesday, Dec. 18, with the apparent low base bid of $1,999,000 submitted by Maxwell Construction, Greendale.

Even the highest bid received was under the $2.2 million limit.
