The
Indiana Department of Transportation is advising motorists that Ind. 56
in Switzerland County is scheduled to open Friday afternoon, Dec. 21.
Force construction will remove barricades and open Ind. 56, located 0.6
mile north of Ind. 156. The $6.3 million slide correction and
realignment project is significantly completed on Ind. 56. This project
enhances the overall safety of the roadway and opening much earlier than
the original scheduled date of June 2013. The improvements feature
12-foot-driving lanes, two-foot shoulders, drainage and guardrail. Seed
and sod work will take place in the spring of 2013 to wrap up project
completion. Flagging operations may be required to restrict traffic
during this period. INDOT encourages motorists to slow down and pay special attention while traveling in work zones throughout Indiana. For the latest news and information about INDOT, visit www.in.gov/indot and www.trafficwise.in.gov. |
