AURORA – South Dearborn football expected some dropoff after a solid 7-3 season, its fourth under coach Eric Lows, in 2011. But nothing could prepare the Knights for the 0-10 abyss they fell into this past fall, where everything seemed to go wrong, bad turned to worse and little could be done to stop the pain. “We felt we had a solid team after we scrimmaged Milan in the preseason,” said Lows, now 20-31 in five seasons at his alma mater, where he doubles as Aurora Elementary School principal. “That first game of the season (63-19, to 2A sectional champ Lawrenceburg, 11-2) just seemed to throw us. We lost (senior C/DE) Dustin Conety (emergency appendectomy) right before that and had to reshuffled our lines. Things just snowballed and we were never able to put on the brakes.” To read the rest of this article please subscribe or sign in |
