One person was killed and seven others injured when a minivan and car crashed Sunday afternoon, Dec. 30, said Sgt. Nick Myers, Lawrenceburg Police Department. Lawrenceburg police was dispatched to an automobile crash with injuries at 3:11 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 50 and South Tanners Creek Drive, Lawrenceburg. Units arrived and found two vehicles with heavy front end damage, he said. A Chevrolet passenger car driven by Wanda Koons, 85, of Lawrenceburg, made an improper left turn from U.S. 50 westbound to S. Tanners Creek Drive. Koons’ vehicle struck a Honda minivan traveling eastbound on U.S. 50 driven by Robin James, 29, Aurora, said Myers. James was transported to Dearborn County Hospital by ambulance along with her 28-year-old adult passenger and four juvenile passengers ranging in age from 4 to 8. Two of the children were transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital by helicopter from Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. All but one juvenile has been treated for their injuries and released, and that juvenile is expected to be released in the next few days, said Myers. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time. Lawrenceburg police were assisted by the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Lawrenceburg Fire and EMS and Aurora EMS, said Myers. To read the rest of this article please subscribe or sign in |
