AURORA – River Town Classic championships almost qualify as a tradition in South Dearborn girls basketball. Lady Knights breezed to their eighth homecourt tournament title in 13 years – all under veteran SD head coach Bob Bressert – 52-32 over Rising Sun Saturday night. “It’s always a spot for us, we’ll come in struggling a bit, at 5-6, or, like this year, at 4-6,” said Bressert, now 141-122 in his 13th year, as well. “We kind of look as it as a pick-me-up for the second half of our season. It’s pretty neat. I’ve somehow managed to have the longevity to stick around for all 13 years. The River Town definitely means something to our girls. It’s at our place and they want to defend it.” To read the rest of this article please subscribe or sign in |
