A program to help individuals, farmers, landowners and family businesses understand various legal and tax issues as well as an update on estate and business transfer is scheduled by the Purdue Extension Dearborn County Office, Aurora, Friday, Feb. 22.
The presenter is Gerry Harrison; a Purdue Professor in Farm Management, Extension and Ag law will present the information and take questions. For nearly 40 years, Harrison remains at the forefront of Purdue Extension for Ag law topics as well as Estate and Family Business Transfer Planning education.
Harrison will discuss and take questions on the following topics: drainage law, limiting liability for farming activities, property rights, takings law & condemnation; right to farm law; real estate transfer taxation: sale, trade or die owning it! After a lunch provided at the site, he will tackle land trusts and conservation easements: legal and tax aspects and “isn’t it really all about estate planning.”
Pre-registration is required. For a registration form and information about the cost, you may contact the Dearborn County Extension Office at 1-812-926-1189 or download the form at www.extension.purdue.edu/dearborn.
