BROOKVILLE – You have to dig back in Lawrenceburg girls basketball history to find the last time it posted two consecutive conference wins.

Long-suffering Lady Tigers hadn't put together two victories of any kind during its well-documented run of 29 consecutive losing seasons.

But coach Bill Snyder's current team (8-7) did just that Tuesday night, following Saturday's 40-36 upset of Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference contender Batesville with a fitful 33-26 escape from cellar-dweller Franklin County (2-14, 0-8).

“Our girls hung in there with defense,” said Snyder. “Anytime you can hold somebody in the 20s you've got to feel pretty good. The way we play, we tend to make things ugly. We just try to pick up the pieces and score enough points to win.”
