LAWRENCEBURG – No one was happy with another loss in Lawrenceburg boys basketball’s current 6-6 season, 62-52 to Batesville Friday at Bateman Gym.
But it also displayed at least three quarters of the best coach John Blackwell’s Tigers have played this season, against a No. 11-ranked Bulldog team (11-1, 7-1 Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference) that annihilated them 62-24 at the Dog Pound Dec. 7.
“We’re disappointed to lose, it’s as simple as that,” said Blackwell, who team tied Batesville 16-16 after one quarter and trailed by one, 25-24, at halftime.
Thanks to their own faltering shooting, which ended up at 37.7 percent from the field (17-46) and an ultimate 17 turnovers, Tigers lost ground in the third period, facing a nine-point deficit entering the fourth, 46-37.
