LAWRENCEBURG – South Dearborn broke a two-year title run by East Central in a hotly-contested Eastern Indiana Athetic Conference Wrestling Championships Saturday. Coach George Gardner’s Knights marked their ninth EIAC crown with a narrow 184-174.3 victory over runner-up East Central, as all six conference teams scored 100-plus points in the most competitive tournament in recent history. Gardner's first conference title in his successful 25-year run as Knights head coach, ironically, also came at his alma mater, Lawrenceburg, in 1988. “They did a fine job and we hope they'll host again in the near future,” said the SD boss, whose varsity squad advanced seven wrestlers to the championship round, coming away with three weight class titles Saturday.
