Dillsboro residents should see the last of an eyesore in the near future, though it's taken over three years to get that far. The town was granted ownership of 12888 North St. Tuesday, Jan. 15, in a Dearborn County court after former owner Vernon Muncy defaulted on a bankruptcy payment agreement for back taxes, mortgage and other liens on the property, said Dillsboro Town Manager Scott Fortner. “It's been (three) years ago we bought it on tax sale,” said Fortner, explaining the town paid $150 for the site in September 2009. But original owners have 12 months to reclaim “sold” tax-sale properties by paying back taxes, etc. Muncy filed for bankruptcy before those 12 months were up.To read the rest of this article please subscribe or sign in |
