ST. LEON – A perceived slight in pregame comments by Connersville coach Michael Thompson was all it took to motivate East Central girls basketball toward its 16th win of the season, 48-39, on Senior Night Thursday.

“We’ve wanted to win this conference, at least on paper this season, meaning we want to beat all the teams in the EIAC that we play this year,” Thompson was quoted in last week's (Jan. 23) Connersville News Examiner.

True, his Spartans (11-8) held an 8-1 series advantage over the Lady Trojans in 10 year prior to Thursday's contest, including last season's 58-32 victory.
