While Destination Brookville may be on a list to receive a $600,000 10-county economic development grant from Lawrenceburg, the Town of Brookville’s economic development commission does not yet have the grant money.

“The ISBDC is still doing due diligence on the group,” said Grant Hughes, Lawrenceburg redevelopment director.

The Indiana Small Business Development Center works with a range of businesses out of regional offices, and its services include classes and developing business plans and helping smaller businesses succeed, said Hughes.

Meanwhile, Franklin County had the highest number of applications in the more than six years of the grant program, but had the lowest rate of approvals as well as the lowest rate of completions.

The City of Lawrenceburg pushed Brookville and Franklin County to create their respective redevelopment commissions that can, among other duties, administer grants, buy property and create Tax Increment Finance District to boost job creation, said Hughes.
