Beth Fox, West Harrison, tests a driving simulator during training at the Dearborn County Sheriff's Department Tuesday morning, March 31. The over $21,000 simulator was purchased with money raised through her late son Jack Carpenter's foundation, Jack's Forever 3. Jack died at age 3 in September 2010 after being hit by a truck along North Dearborn Road. His mom hopes the simulator will help teach kids and adults the dangers of distracted driving.

West Harrison resident Beth Fox grabs the wheel of the driving simulator. She activates the turn signal, checks her blind spot and is ready to merge from her parking spot onto the road.

Within seconds, her simulated vehicle has crashed - right into a “police car.”

Dearborn County Sheriff Chief Deputy David Lusby laughs.

If Lawrenceburg City Council buys into the nuts and bolts of the program, Dearborn County and the surrounding region will have an  “advanced manufacturing and technology” school by December 2016.
