Hanover to Haiti

Despite encountering third world poverty on a recent trip to Haiti, Chelsea Gentry said the country “felt like home a lot.”

An education major at Hanover College, Gentry said tent cities still abound in urban areas three years after a devastating earthquake struck the country, and there is “rubble everywhere.”

“I didn't realize how welcoming the people would be,” said Gentry, 21, daughter of Angi Clark, Aurora.
Despite their hardships, she was impressed by Haitians as a people, and tried to name their greatest strength.
